Crucem tuam by Remi Studer — Lyrics
About Crucem tuam
Remi Studer’s setting of Crucem tuam for SATB voices opens with a clear, serene melodic line, soon joined by other voices to create a rich, homophonic texture. The Latin text is a devotional prayer that first praises the Holy Cross and Christ’s resurrection, then reflects on the joy the cross brought to the world. The music rises to meet the exultant declaration 'ecce enim propter lignum venit gaudium in universo mundo', before settling into a more contemplative mood. The second part of the text, a psalm verse, is treated with a flowing, lyrical style, offering a final blessing and prayer for God’s mercy. This motet is a concise and moving setting of profound theological themes, suitable for liturgical use or as a concert item.
