Continuo lacrimas (In mortem Clementis non Papa)

This motet for six voices (soprano, three tenors, and two basses) is a poignant lament for the death of Clement VII. The composer Jacobus Vaet uses the Latin text to express profound sorrow, lamenting the loss of a leader who was the 'praise and glory of the choir'. The music directly reflects the grief and loss described, with the opening lines urging singers to 'pour forth continuous tears'.
