About Christe qui lux es et dies
This sacred motet by Georg Blanckenmüller is set for ATTBB choir. The Latin text is a devotional hymn that speaks of Christ as the light of day, dispelling the darkness of night. It includes prayers for protection through the night, asking God to defend His servants from sleep's heavy intrusion and from the enemy, and to keep their hearts ever watchful as their bodies rest. The text further pleads for God's protection against insidious forces and asks for remembrance in this earthly body. The hymn concludes with praise to God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
