Candlemas music

Henry Bird Collins' SSAATBB motet, Lumen ad revelationem gentium, is a setting of a Latin text traditionally sung at Candlemas. The words, taken from the Nunc dimittis, speak of Christ as a light to the Gentiles and the glory of Israel, and of Simeon's peaceful departure from life, having seen the Lord. This is sacred music in the tradition of the motet, suitable for a choir of mixed voices.
