About Benedictus
This setting of the Benedictus from the Ordinary of the Mass is by Rudolph di Lasso. Sung in Latin, it is intended for the celebration of Holy Communion. The text proclaims blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord, with praises ascending to the heavens. This short, two-part piece for treble voices (SA) would be an effective and devotional addition to a service, perhaps during Advent or Christmastide when the arrival of the Messiah is particularly remembered, or at any time when the sacredness of the Eucharist is being observed.
