About Benedicta es
Hilarión Eslava’s Benedicta es is a powerful SATB motet for choir. The music unfolds with rich harmonies and contrapuntal interplay, celebrating the Virgin Mary. The Latin text, drawn from Marian antiphonary tradition, extols Mary as blessed above all women, the glory of Jerusalem, the joy of Israel, and the honor of our people. It further describes her as wholly beautiful, free from original sin. The setting is deeply devotional, moving from jubilant Alleluias to profound expressions of reverence, making it a moving addition to any sacred choral repertoire.
