Benedicite by Ludwig Rotter — Lyrics

In finem. Canticum psalmi resurrectionis. Jubilate Deo, omnis terra; psalmum dicite nomini ejus; date gloriam laudi ejus.

About Benedicite

This SATB motet by Ludwig Rotter sets a powerful Latin text from the Psalms. Its opening verses call for universal rejoicing and praise to God, celebrating the awe-inspiring might of His works and His dominion. The music would suit a service of thanksgiving or a celebration of God's power. The composer uses the rich sonorities of four-part harmony to convey the exultant and majestic character of the text, building towards a fervent declaration of God's greatness and the surrender of His enemies. It is a significant addition to the sacred choral repertoire, offering a profound musical setting for a significant liturgical moment.
