About Benedicamus Dominum
Andreas Hakenberger was a German composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. This motet, Benedicamus Domino, is a sacred work in Latin. It is scored for double choir, SSAB and ATTB, creating rich choral textures. The text, a liturgical acclamation, calls for blessings upon the Lord and thanks to God, with the joyful refrain of alleluja sung twice. Hakenberger's setting explores the interplay between the two choirs, contrasting and combining them to enhance the meaning of the words.
