About Beati omnes qui timent Dominum
This motet by Ivo de Vento sets a psalm of blessing. The Latin text expresses the joy and prosperity that await those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways. It paints a picture of a family blessed with a fruitful wife, like a vine, and children like olive shoots around the table, culminating in a prayer for a long and peaceful life, and the continuation of the family line. The composer uses a rich texture for this sacred work, writing for two choirs: one in TTTB and another in SATB, creating a full and resonant sound perfect for a contemplative setting.
