This magnificent double choir setting of the Marian antiphon Ave Regina Caelorum is ideal for a grand liturgical occasion or concert. Andrea Rota’s motet celebrates the Queen of Heaven, the Lady of Angels. The text speaks of Mary as the root and gate from which the world’s light was born, and rejoices in her beauty. It urges her to pray for us to Christ, her son. The rich sonority of eight voices (SATB doubled) offers a powerful and sonorous expression of this devotional text, creating a devotional soundscape perfect for major feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary in either cathedral or concert hall.
