About Ave Maria
This setting of the Ave Maria by Jacquet de Mantua is ideal for services during Advent and Christmastide, or for Marian feast days. The text, a Marian antiphon, is set for treble voices in AAT. The composer’s gentle treatment of the familiar Latin words captures a sense of serene contemplation. The flowing melodic lines in this Renaissance motet offer a beautiful opportunity for careful ensemble work and expressive shaping, making it a sensitive choice for liturgical occasions or a concert programme.
