Audite coeli

This solo motet for soprano by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger is a powerful setting of a Latin text drawn from Deuteronomy. The music opens with an immediate sense of supplication, the voice line weaving a compelling narrative. Kapsperger's writing here is both expressive and technically demanding, calling for a clear vocal line to articulate the biblical words. The composer conveys the gravity of the text, which speaks of divine wisdom and the calling of God's name. The piece is a striking example of sacred vocal music from its period, offering a profound devotional experience for both performer and listener. Its direct address and lyrical scope make it a memorable concert or liturgical offering.
