About Anime pellegrine
A secular madrigal from the Italian Renaissance, Benedetto Pallavicino’s Anime pellegrine is set for SSTTB voices. The text explores themes of spiritual longing and union, suggesting that souls seeking love should die to themselves and be reborn in another. It advocates for a complete merging of desires, where two hearts and souls become one, with love itself being the only reward. This richly textured piece would suit an intimate concert setting, allowing the expressive counterpoint to unfold.
