Amor Iesu dulcissime

Paolo Quagliati's Amor Iesu dulcissime is a sacred motet for treble voices, SSB. The Latin text is a rapturous meditation on the love of Jesus, who, as the joy of heaven, becomes sustenance for humanity on earth. The composer vividly portrays the text's exclamations of wonder and praise, culminating in the ecstatic Alleluia. Quagliati's setting would be particularly effective during a period of devotion, perhaps for a Corpus Christi celebration, where its fervent praise can be fully appreciated by a choir and congregation.
