The Latin text "Afferentur regi virgines" depicts a joyous procession of virgins being brought before the king. The music translates this text into a rich sound world for STTB voices. Floriano Canale’s motet is a fine example of sacred Renaissance part-music, celebrating a moment of exaltation and gladness. The text speaks of a procession entering the temple of the king, bringing with them gladness and exultation, all conveyed through the interplay of the four vocal parts.
