About Adjuro vos filiae Jerusalem a 8
This sacred motet, Adjuro vos filiae Jerusalem, is written for a large choir of eight voices (SSAT.ATBB). The Latin text, taken from the Song of Solomon, portrays a dialogue between a woman and the daughters of Jerusalem, filled with longing and praise. The woman implores the daughters to tell her beloved that she is languishing with love for him. They ask what distinguishes her beloved, and she describes him as radiant, chosen from thousands, and altogether desirable, her friend and companion. The text culminates with the beloved descending into his garden to feed among the lilies, a beautiful image of intimacy and devotion. This piece is ideal for a significant occasion within the church's calendar, offering rich polyphonic textures and a profound expression of sacred love.
