Adiutor meus

Francesco Stivori was a composer of the late Renaissance. He wrote this motet for double choir, SATTB. The Latin text is taken from Psalm 39, verses 14-15, and expresses a plea for divine help: "Be my helper, O Lord; do not forsake me, O God of my salvation." Stivori’s setting masterfully uses the double choir to create a rich and sonorous texture, contrasting different vocal groups to enhance the devotional and pleading character of the text. This sacred motet is a fine example of late Renaissance polyphony, offering a profound musical reflection on faith and reliance on God.
