Accipe qua recrees

Orlando di Lasso's motet Accipe qua recrees is a powerful setting for SSATTB voices in Latin. The text addresses a leader, praising his virtues and his role as a protector. It speaks of his ability to bring solace and to quell turmoil, likening him to a guardian of his flock against wolves. The verses go on to describe his potential to usher in a new era, suggesting that with his leadership, all would be united under one law and one shepherd, a powerful image of unity and strong governance. This motet would suit a choir looking for a substantial Renaissance Latin work with rich choral textures.
