VAA MA'AYI KPENU by A. D. Kadeloban — Lyrics
About VAA MA'AYI KPENU
"Vaa Ma'ayi Kpenu" (Come Let Us Worship) is a vibrant call to worship, setting a joyful tone for the beginning of Mass. Drawing from the familiar words of Psalm 122—"I rejoiced when I heard them say, let us go to the house of the Lord"—it invites the congregation to gather in the presence of God the King (Ochichi Ezea).
The arrangement by A. D. Kadeloban features dynamic solo sections that contrast beautifully with the full choir's response. A soaring soprano solo in the first verse asks for God's blessings, love, and peace, while the tenor takes the lead in the second verse to echo the joy of entering the Lord's sanctuary. This second verse culminates in a powerful Trinitarian doxology, offering thanks to the Father (Ndah), the Son (Nwo), and the Holy Spirit (Enu ne nfo).
Dedicated to the St. Cecilia Choir of Rivers State University, this piece captures the energetic and reverent spirit of Nigerian Catholic liturgy. It serves perfectly as an Entrance procession, lifting the hearts of the faithful as they prepare to celebrate the Eucharist.
