The title translates directly to "Lord, have mercy," capturing the solemn plea for forgiveness that opens the Catholic liturgy. Written to be sung at a slow, deliberate tempo (marked *Lento*), the piece carries a deep sense of humility and reflection.

The arrangement follows the traditional call-and-response structure of the rite. A male cantor introduces the first invocation alone, setting a prayerful tone before the full choir enters to echo the petition. As the voices move through the invocations to Christ ("Kristi kayi mana jinkai") and back to the Lord, the harmonies build a warm, unified cry for grace, ending on a gentle, repeated plea.
