About Tis Winter Now
The text paints a stark winter scene, with fallen snow, leafless boughs, and sharp winds. Yet, it finds enduring hope and beauty in God's constant love, which is present even in the harshest seasons. The lyrics draw a parallel between the external cold of winter and the warmth of home and faith, suggesting that God's embrace offers solace and protection through life's challenging periods. This SATB arrangement of an English hymn text offers a moving reflection on divine constancy amidst earthly hardship.
