THE TRUMPET

Choirs in Nigeria are known for their incredible creativity, and this piece is a brilliant example of that spirit. The STACC Choir of FUTO has taken Tony Britten’s famous "UEFA Champions League Anthem"—a melody known worldwide for its grand, royal energy—and transformed it into a majestic Christian anthem titled "The Trumpet."

Instead of celebrating football teams, this arrangement uses the soaring, triumphant chords to proclaim the resurrection of the dead and the return of Christ. When the choir reaches the iconic climax, the words ring out: "The righteous shall all be crowned as Champions!" It is a powerful, spine-tingling moment that perfectly matches the epic scale of the original music, which itself was based on Handel's coronation anthem "Zadok the Priest."

The score thoughtfully includes both the new English lyrics about the last trumpet and the original multi-lingual UEFA text in French, German, and English. This allows a choir to use it either as a spectacular concert piece or as a deeply moving anthem for celebrations, reminding the congregation of the ultimate victory we look forward to at the end of time.
