Lord Have Mercy / Sanctus

When a choir prepares for Mass, having clear and prayerful settings for the Ordinary parts is essential. This sheet brings together two foundational moments of the liturgy—the Penitential Rite and the Eucharistic Acclamation—composed by Ogbonna Wisdom. Written entirely in tonic sol-fa, the arrangement is straightforward and accessible, making it easy for choirs to learn and lead the congregation in worship.

The first section, "Lord Have Mercy," offers a gentle, repetitive plea for forgiveness, moving naturally through the traditional threefold invocation. Following this is the "Sanctus," sung in Latin. The verses proclaim the holiness of God ("Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth") and bless the one who comes in the Lord's name, before lifting into a bright, joyful "Hosanna in excelsis" for the refrain. Together, these pieces provide a reverent and uplifting framework for the most solemn parts of the Mass.
