OSA RUE'SE by Vincent Ihaza — Lyrics
About OSA RUE'SE
"Osa Rue'se" is a vibrant Edo thanksgiving anthem that rings out with profound gratitude for God's goodness. Composed by V. I. Ihaza, the piece was originally presented as a motet for the UNIBEN choir entry at the FILM festival in Jos in 2007. It captures the joyful, overflowing energy of a choir lifting their voices to recount the blessings of Osalobua (God).
The music is through-composed, moving from a rhythmic, repeating declaration of God's deeds into bright, soaring Alleluias. As the voices weave together in solfa harmony, the song builds a powerful atmosphere of celebration. It is an excellent choice for the Offertory procession or as a grand Recessional hymn, where the congregation can join in the spirit of thanksgiving.
Singing this piece requires a choir ready to embrace its dynamic shifts and energetic Edo phrasing. The repeated calls of "Osa rue se" at the climax serve as a triumphant reminder of faith, leaving everyone who hears it uplifted and ready to carry that gratitude out into the world.
