OMOGODE R'OGHENE (LAMB OF GOD)

"Omogode r'Oghene" is a reverent Urhobo setting of the Agnus Dei, composed by Ariama Paul Ufuoma. Sung during the fraction rite as the bread is broken, this piece allows the choir to lead the congregation in petitioning the Lamb of God for mercy and peace before receiving the Eucharist.

The solfa arrangement follows the familiar three-part structure of the Mass prayer. It opens with the solemn invocation "Omogode r'Oghene, r'o si mumu r'akpo na no" (Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world), resolving into the plea "r'avware" (have mercy on us). After the repeat, the final section gently shifts the ending to "ufuoma k'avware," asking the Lord to grant us peace as the Communion rite begins.
