About OHUAN NO SO'SENOBLUA
"Ohuan no so'Senoblua" is a reverent and deeply moving choral setting of the Agnus Dei, composed in the Esan language. Sung during the fraction rite just before Communion, this piece calls upon the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The gentle, steady progression of the solfa notation guides the choir through a solemn, harmonized petition for mercy and peace, grounding the liturgy in a familiar indigenous voice.
The arrangement builds a profound sense of humility through its repeated, layered pleas of "Fia to mhan re" (have mercy on us). As the different voice parts echo and sustain this central prayer, the music naturally draws the congregation into a moment of quiet reflection and spiritual readiness to receive the Eucharist. It is a beautiful, contemplative addition to the Mass that resonates strongly with Esan-speaking Catholic communities, bringing a deep sense of reverence to the choir loft.
