No Other Plea by Okpogba Albin-Benedict — Lyrics
About No Other Plea
When we hand out this sheet in the choir loft, we are giving our singers two of the most profound hymns of surrender in the Christian tradition. "No Other Plea" opens with a powerful declaration of faith, reminding the congregation that our salvation rests entirely on Christ's sacrifice. The melody carries a quiet, steady confidence, building to that reassuring refrain: "It is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me." It is a wonderful piece for a reflective moment in the Mass, especially during the Offertory or Communion when the church is still and hearts are turned toward the altar.
The second piece on the page, "Just As I Am," perfectly answers the first. Where "No Other Plea" states our belief, "Just As I Am" is our personal response. Singing "O Lamb of God, I come" requires a gentle, unhurried approach from the choir, allowing the congregation to truly hear the invitation in the words. Together, these two hymns make a beautiful pairing for Lenten services, penitential rites, or any Sunday where the readings call us to approach God with open, humble hearts.
