Nda Goe Na Chigir

"Nda Goe Na Chigir" is a reverent setting of the Kyrie eleison composed in the Pan language. Sung during the Penitential Rite at the beginning of Mass, it leads the congregation in a humble plea for God's forgiveness and compassion before entering into the Liturgy of the Word.

The handwritten solfa score follows the traditional threefold structure of the prayer—calling first upon the Lord, then Christ, and returning to the Lord. The melodic lines are deliberate and grounded, allowing the choir to express a genuine sense of contrition through the natural cadence of the language.

Notated for the Queen of Angels Choir at the Good Shepherd Catholic Chaplaincy, University of Jos, the piece brings local devotion into the universal liturgy. Singing the Mass parts in indigenous languages helps the faithful connect more deeply with the prayers, turning a standard rite into a deeply personal moment of worship.
