About MENENE ZAN BAKA YAU?

"Menene Zan Baka Yau?" is a joyful Hausa hymn of thanksgiving, perfectly suited for the Offertory. The title asks a profound question: "What will I give You today?" As the congregation processes to the altar with their gifts, the choir leads them in reflecting on God's boundless generosity. The lively Allegro tempo gives the piece a celebratory energy, turning the act of giving into a moment of pure gratitude.

The lyrics beautifully list the everyday miracles of God's provision. In the verses, the choir sings of receiving food, water, clothing, knowledge, and shelter ("Ka ba ni abinci... Ka ba ni gidaje"). Because God is a loving Father who meets every need ("Kai ne mai biyan bukatu na"), the faithful lack nothing. This builds to the recurring, humbling refrain: after receiving absolutely everything from the Lord, what can we possibly offer in return? It is a moving reminder that our offerings at Mass are simply a joyful response to His endless grace.
