Luca Marenzio's L'aura che'l verde Lauro paints a vivid scene of a gentle breeze stirring the laurel leaves and golden hair. The text laments the rarity of a perfect woman, comparing her to a white rose among thorns, and questions when the world will find her equal. The poet prays that his beloved might live before she dies, lest the world lose its sun and his own senses be deprived of her light and words.
