L'amara dispartita by Gemignano Capilupi — Lyrics
About L'amara dispartita
The bitter parting, the text proclaims, invites tears and sighs, with a longing for return to sweeten sorrow. If this does not happen, the singer's great, burning love will be evident everywhere. The harsh pain flows like a tearful river, threatening to spill the soul through the eyes or fill the heart with a constant storm. Yet, if a kinder sky dispels this cloudy veil, the departure will be gentle, the flame extinguished, and martyrdom turned to joy. The singer will reach a place where all ills are extinguished, having conquered waves and wind. This secular canzonetta for three voices (SST) in Italian explores these intense emotions with dramatic imagery.
