About Kingsfold

Ralph Vaughan Williams’ setting of Kingsfold opens with a gentle, hymn-like quality, the SATB voices moving together in a warm, homophonic texture. The music evokes a sense of peace and devotion, perfectly suited to the devotional text. The English lyrics speak of the birth of Jesus, from the shepherds in Bethlehem to the young boy in Nazareth and the miracles performed in Galilee, spreading a message of hope and divine presence. The soaring melodic lines and rich harmonies create an uplifting atmosphere, making this a deeply moving anthem for SATB choir.
