About Khvalitye imya Gospodnye
This Russian Orthodox motet, Khvalitye imya Gospodnye, is a powerful and exuberant setting of Psalm 134 (135) from the Old Testament. The text, sung in Church Slavonic, calls for praise to the Lord, celebrating His goodness and eternal mercy. Rachmaninoff’s setting, written for a substantial SSAATTBB choir, builds to a glorious "Alleluia", reflecting the joyous nature of the text.
