KABIYESI O

"Kabiyesi O" is a vibrant Yoruba song of praise, widely sung in Nigerian parishes during the Offertory or as a joyful Recessional hymn. The title "Kabiyesi" is a traditional Yoruba greeting of deep respect reserved for a king, and here the choir directs that ultimate reverence to Jesus Christ, the immortal King ("Ọba aiku"). Arranged by Jude Nnam, the piece captures the rhythmic, dancing energy that characterizes Catholic thanksgiving processions.

The attached score also includes a second lively piece, "Olugbala Jesu Kristi," which calls upon the Savior, the Holy Trinity ("Mẹtalọkan"), and the Holy Spirit.
