Jubilate Alleluia

When we need a piece that immediately lifts the spirit of the congregation, "Jubilate Alleluia" is a wonderful choice. Based on Psalm 66, this setting uses a vibrant call-and-response structure that feels both ancient and entirely fresh. The verses alternate between a male and soprano soloist, proclaiming the great works of God—turning the sea into dry land and calling all the earth to worship.

What makes this arrangement so effective in the choir loft is the steady, rhythmic return of the choir's response. After every solo line, the full choir answers with a rich, harmonised "Jubilate deo Omnis terra" or a soaring "Alleluia." This constant back-and-forth builds a joyful momentum that carries the whole church along with it.

Because of its celebratory text and driving energy, we often bring this out for Entrance processions, especially during the Easter season or on major feast days. It is a fantastic way to set a tone of triumph and praise right from the opening notes of the Mass, inviting everyone to cry out with joy.
