Jesu of a maiden Thou wast born,
To save mankind that was forlorn,
All for our sins.

About Jesu, Thou the Virgin Born
This arrangement of an Old English carol, Jesu, Thou the Virgin Born, is ideal for Christmas services. The SATB voicing offers rich harmonic possibilities for the text, which recounts the Nativity and its theological significance. The choir will find opportunities to express both the tenderness of the birth and the profound sacrifice that follows. The Latin refrain, Jesu fili virgine, misere nobis, provides a grounding liturgical element, reminding listeners of the prayerful plea for mercy.
