About Jerusalem

The words of this setting, Jerusalem, paint a picture of the City of God, glorious and founded by the Most High. The composer Jacob French sets this Latin text for SATB choir. While the psalm speaks of peoples and princes, and the great ones who were in the city, it ultimately rejoices in the dwelling of all who are joyful within it. The Latin text is drawn from Psalm 87, a psalm which speaks of the foundations of the city in the holy mountains and praises its gates.
