Je suys content

From the tradition of secular French chansons of the Renaissance, Je suys content is a four-part work for two sopranos and two altos (SAAT). The composer, Puy, sets a text expressing a profound dissatisfaction with unfulfilled desire. The singer declares contentment if death should take them, as their longing cannot be satisfied. They would rather perish entirely in ashes than be consumed like wax in a fire, finding this strange death to be their only recourse.
