About Jag vet en dejlig rosa
Jag vet en dejlig rosa is a traditional Swedish folk song, sung here in four-part harmony. The music opens with a gentle, flowing melody, soon joined by imitative entries in the lower voices, creating a warm, blended sound. The text speaks of a beautiful rose, whose presence brings joy and whose voice offers comfort, like that of a nightingale. It likens her to the sun, and expresses a wish for her to be happy. The latter part of the text reflects on the passage of time, with the sun rising and setting, and expresses a longing for a reunion with a loved one, ending with a tender farewell.
