Andrea Rota’s In voluntate tua is a substantial motet for double choir (SATB.SATB) in Latin. The music opens with a sense of grandeur, the two choirs interacting in a rich, imitative texture that builds to moments of powerful homophony. The text, drawn from scripture, speaks of God’s sovereign will, his creation of all things, and the blessedness of those who walk in his law. The composer’s setting reflects the text’s theological weight with confident, sonorous writing for the eight voices.
