This responsory, In manus tuas (second setting), is sung at Compline, the final office of the day. The composer William Corbrand sets a text from Psalm 31 (Vulgate 30), in which the singer entrusts his spirit to God. The Latin lyrics express utter dependence and trust in the divine. The piece is written for two male voices, TT, and could form a poignant moment of reflection at the close of day. The simplicity of the voicing allows the profound meaning of the text to come to the fore.
