About Illumina
The composer Arjan van Baest sets a plea for divine illumination, asking that the eyes of the faithful be enlightened lest they fall into the sleep of death. The text, a Latin offertory hymn, goes on to express confidence in God's mercy and salvation, proclaiming 'My heart has rejoiced in your salvation'. It continues with a hymn of praise to the Lord for his goodness and a declaration of God as a refuge and deliverer.
