Ihr meine Seuffzer by Johann Nauwach — Lyrics
Ihr meine Seuffzer last nicht ab,

About Ihr meine Seuffzer
This German secular aria for two sopranos, SS, expresses a lover's deep lament. The text speaks of sighs that should not cease, pleading with the air to carry the sorrow. Patience is sought to endure the suffering, and hope is invoked to sustain the singer, anticipating a possible change in fortune. However, the lover questions what hope can be found from such a hard heart, which seems to rejoice only in the singer's pain, finding amusement in their tears. Despite this, the resolve is to remain faithful and patiently endure all, believing that faithfulness and patience have often helped lovers unexpectedly.
