About Hymne an den Gesang
Michael Haller's Hymne an den Gesang opens with a bold, declamatory statement, giving immediate weight to the text's praise of song. The German lyrics speak of song as a gift from heaven, a source of joy and peace that awakens the spirit and unites mankind. This secular hymn, set for TTBB choir, builds with powerful, resonant harmonies, celebrating the ennobling and uplifting power of music. The composer uses rich textures and strong melodic lines to convey the text's message of universal harmony and the radiant beauty of song, making it a stirring choice for a male choir seeking an anthem of profound sentiment.
