Hosanna to the Son of David

John Varley Roberts's setting of Hosanna to the Son of David is a vibrant anthem for SATB choir. The music captures the celebratory and exclamatory nature of the text, drawn from Matthew 21:9. The vocal parts are crafted to create a rich and full sound, with moments of dynamic contrast that mirror the scriptural acclamation. The interplay between the choir and the organ accompaniment provides a powerful framework for this uplifting sacred work, making it a fitting choice for services and concerts where a jubilant expression of faith is desired. Its solid, traditional harmonic language and clear melodic lines ensure it is accessible yet deeply effective.
