About Hor pensate
Eliseo Ghibel's Hor pensate is a secular madrigal for three male voices (TTB). The text, in Italian, describes the singer's profound sorrow and the paradoxical sweetness he finds even in torment. He likens his suffering to snow melting in the sun or mist dissipating in the wind, and his own body to wax before a fire. Yet, despite this anguish, he finds a strange solace, even joy, in his lament. He sings, dances, and languishes, chasing after an elusive ideal, likening his fate to gathering flowers and weaving garlands. This piece offers a rich exploration of complex emotions, suitable for ensembles seeking expressive Renaissance part-music.
