Holy Spirit, Lord of love by Joseph Parry — Lyrics
Holy Spirit, Lord of love,
who descended from above,
gifts of blessing to bestow
on your waiting Church below,
once again in love draw near
to your servants gathered here;
from their bright baptismal day
you have led them on their way.

About Holy Spirit, Lord of love
Composed by Joseph Parry, Holy Spirit, Lord of love is a powerful hymn for SATB choir, sung in English. It is suitable for occasions such as confirmations or ordinations, when a congregation gathers to seek divine guidance and blessing. The text invokes the Holy Spirit, asking for spiritual gifts, strength, and light to guide the faithful through their Christian journey from baptism to the ultimate reward. Parry’s setting would resonate deeply in services focused on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit within the church community.
