Gloria, Laus

Francisco López Capillas' Gloria, Laus is a sacred liturgical work for SATB choir. The Latin text draws parallels between the Palm Sunday procession and Christ's eternal kingship. It begins with acclamations of glory, praise, and honour to Christ the King and Redeemer, recalling the hosannas sung by children. The text then references Jesus as the King of Israel, son of David, blessed in the name of the Lord. It extends the praise from heavenly hosts and all creation to the earthly congregation, mirroring the Hebrew people who met Jesus with palms and hymns. The music reflects on both those who offered praise to the suffering Christ and the present devotion offered to the reigning King.
