Gitene canzonette by Giovanni Artusi — Lyrics
About Gitene canzonette
Giovanni Artusi was a composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods, associated with the Venetian school. He is known for his madrigals and canzonette. This canzonetta, for four voices (soprano, alto, tenor, tenor), is a secular work in Italian. The text speaks directly to the musical pieces themselves, urging them to go to the composer's lord and inform him that his heart is humbly given to the one who speaks only of these songs. It is a charming expression of devotion, characteristic of the genre's often personal and emotional subject matter.
