Ggwe Kabaka

This is a powerful setting of a Luganda text, suitable for liturgical occasions. The choir sings SATB, creating rich harmonies as they proclaim "Ggwe Kabaka, ggwe ow’obuyinza" – "You are King, you are sovereign". The music builds to a climactic "Amiina", or Amen, reflecting the sacred and devotional nature of the text. The composer Nicholas Azza crafts a piece that elevates the listener, with the layered voices of the SATB choir conveying a sense of awe and majesty appropriate for congregational singing or special services. The repetition of "emirembe n’emirembe" (for ever and ever) emphasizes the eternal glory being attributed to God.
